Denali National Park, Alaska, U.S.

Denali National Park is in central (more or less) Alaska and covers more than six million acres. There is one road in the park, and you can travel this only on foot, in Park buses, or in one of the very few private vehicles permitted in the park. We stayed at Camp Denali, which is near the western end of the road, well into the interior of the park. Abundant wildlife, breathtaking views, and cool temperatures were typical of a day's hiking during our August visit. At that time of year, sunset is about 10:30 PM.
